I stood on the scales this morning
So....
I stood on the scales this morning ⚖
I literally CANNOT remember the last time I stood on them. Maybe last November 🤔
I've never had a particularly bad relationship with my weight BUT standing on the scales never had a particularly positive effect on my brain either 🧠 💭
The weight on the dial always made me think I needed to lose a few extra pounds to get to my 'perfect' weight 🙄🙄🙄
So I stopped ⛓️🔗
I can tell when I'm storing extra fat around my middle because of the way I'm eating or drinking. I don't need a figure in front of me to highlight that and make me feel bad.
I may not be in the VERY best shape of my life but who cares. I feel strong, I feel really really well, I can look good in my clothes. I may not want to stand in front of Gok Wan NAKED but then that's not something I really need to worry about anytime soon 🙈
I stood on them this morning so I can record what happens whilst following my current food program 📋🖊️🤓
And so have a think 🤔
⏺️ Do your scales bring you joy? (often)
⏺️ Do your scales make you cry? (often)
⏺️ Do you torment yourself with the number? (if it's not showing the titanic shift you were expecting!)
⏺️ Are your scales helping you achieve your goals OR are they making you more frustrated and less motivated?
⏺️ Can you relate to the Bridget Jones' approach to scale use and weight control? 🙃
On reflection....
Do you need to get a grip on your scales obsession?
Are you letting A NUMBER affect your mental health and happiness?
If yes.... try this
Throw caution to the wind 🍃
Allow your scales to accumulate dust for 1 month and see how you feel.
I have tried this with 2 clients lately and they feel SOOOOO much better about themselves and are reluctant to stand back on them. And these clients are self-confessed 'stand on the scales every damn day' addicts!
So it can be done 💚
